Balance - An Epiphany or Just Me Rambling?

Balance - what is balance? The dictionary has a ton of meanings but the one I’m seeking is: to bring to a state or position of equipoise (equalibrium).

Hmmmm….balance. I have to say that pretty much most of my life has been OUT of balance, which would explain the excessive weight, the excessive debt, the lost friendships, the lack of direction, etc, etc.  I tend to be obsessive/ complusive. I glob onto one thing and spend most of my energy and attention on that one thing until I burn out on that one thing and other areas of my life suffer for it.

For example, I can easily spend hours perusing Buddyslim forums and blogs and not get to the exercising! I can focus more on planning my meals and exercise and put no effort into actually following the plan I created. You get the point!

So, I am going to focus on keeping my life as close to centered as possible. I started reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People awhile back but never finished it. I’m going to pick it up again and read it all the way through. That book helps you focus on what matters most and then building your daily life around nurturing those most important areas. Sounds like something I can use right about now.   :D

I hear you Andrea! Gosh, I can relate to everything you said here. :) Good thing is you are being proactive and making changes.

The book sounds like a great one. Keep us posted on what you learn.

When you figure it out, can you tell me how too? lol. I could really use it.

Nancy put it very well. Set out to make your day as healthy as you can. Best of luck on finding your balance.

I’ll definitely be reading that book as I slack off whenever possible. I do exercise and eat properly, but my job hunting is lacking. I get a pension, so I think it’s OK to stay home and play when I am only 52 and don’t have health problems. I retired because the big boss was on my back too much and I got sick of it. I won’t put up with that kind of crap in the next job. Being a supervisor was not all is was cracked up to be. So, that will not be my next job. There are so few jobs here anyway, I will be lucky to find anything. But one has to look to get a job.

I tend to do that too. I am sooo OCD. Let us know about the book. I need the help, too.

Are you sure I didn’t write this blog? LOL You took the words right out of my mouth. I totally get everything you are saying. I think it’s so funny that you started reading that book to help you get focused, but didn’t stay focused enough to finish reading it. I’ve done the same thing! I bought a book on ending procrastination about 7 years ago, and I STILL have not read it—-I just keep putting it off. (I find plenty of time to read other books, though, so there’s probably some deeper issue going on there.). Anyway, please share if you find anything that helps.
